During the Lyon Carex General Assembly, the participants were informed about the Business Plan study carried out by Transae on behalf of Euro Carex on the economic feasibility of the project at a European scale. The action plan validated for 2018 includes promotion and lobbying actions at regional level as well as the launch of a specific Business Plan study for the Lyon Carex railport.

Bernard Sinou, Chairman of Lyon Carex, has notified Aéroports de Lyon in writing of the positive opinion expressed unanimously by the members of the Lyon Carex Board of Directors on the project for the new location of the Carex railport. The letter specifies that the location preserves the possibility of connecting the Carex service to the LGV Méditerranée line, the Lyon-Turin link and the CFAL railway.

The Lyon Carex Board welcomed two new directors: Philippe Meunier, representing the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and Cédric Fechter on behalf of Aéroports de Lyon. The Board took note of the study conducted by Aéroports de Lyon on the relocation of the Lyon Carex railport on the airport site. It issued a favourable opinion on this study.

As part of a project to implement a major logistics warehouse at Lyon airport, Aéroports de Lyon commissioned Ingerop to study a new location for the railport site. This new site must offer an effective connection to the ITE and be compatible with the Lyon-Turin line.

Lyon Carex's role in facilitating the modal shift on rail, of trucked and air freight in Europe was explicitly recalled in Aéroports de Lyon's contribution to STRADDET in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (regional land development scheme). Aéroports de Lyon reaffirms its support for the Euro Carex project and the creation of a railport at Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport.

A feasability study of the Euro Carex concept was launched and will be carried out by an independant consultancy agency. The study aims to identify the potential freight volumes to feed the Euro Carex rail freight service at European level and to evaluate the revenue and expenses linked to it. Lyon Carex is also involved in this process. The results of the study are expected by the end of the year.

Lyon Carex hold its General Assembly on March 29th 2017 at the headquarter of the association in the Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. 

Mr Philippe Bernand, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de Lyon, was invited to inform the participants about the new shareholders of the company SA Aéroports de Lyon and about the traffic results in 2016.

The number of passengers and the airfreight activities are both growing. 30 new lines were opened in 2016. Mr Bernand confirmed the interest for the Carex project on behalf of the Lyon airports' operator.

Lyon Carex organized its annual General Assembly at Lyon Airport on September 6th 2016.

Bernard Sinou, Chairman of the Board of Administrators, took this opportunity to present to all participants - Administrators and representatives of the associated local authorities - the current status of development of Euro Carex network as well as the role of Lyon Carex at a local and European level.

All participants confirmed the necessity for regional companies and territories to remain active in the development of the Euro Carex network.

During the meeting of Euro Carex' Board of Administrators, which was attended by Mr Bernard Sinou, President of Lyon Carex,  two consultants mandated by Euro Carex presented the conclusions of their studies.

Mr Grosch was asked to evaluate the Euro Carex project among German public authorities. Mr Osinga conducted a mission with major private operators in order to assess the strategic interest they grant to the Euro Carex project.

The Lyon Carex Board of Administrators met on April 21st 2016 in order to define the action plan and budget for 2016 as well as to prepare to General Assembly to take place on September 6th 2016.

The Euro Carex General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on the European Commission to facilitate public financing of innovative and sustainable infrastructure that create growth and employment in Europe, by changing the co-financing rules allowing access to subsidies of the European Funds.

The Board of Directors elected on 26 March 2015 a new Chairman: Bernard Sinou.

After a career as a high officer in the administration and local authorities and then SNCF, he led the Lyon Chamber of Commerce from 2009 to 2012 and was appointed Managing Director of the Foundation for the University of Lyon in September 2012. His personal commitment in Lyon Carex reflects the importance it attaches to the development of Lyon Carex for the region's attractiveness and competitiveness of enterprises.

Managers of consulting firms Transae and Aertec presented to the members of the Board of Lyon Carex full results of the handling study conducted in 2014.

The various scenarios studied were used to validate an organization at costs matching the expectations of future customers. The work done on behalf of Lyon Carex will be used as basic specifications for all Railports Carex.

The Board of Directors from the General Meeting of 3 February 2014 elected a new Chairman: Lionel Bessard, Chief Operating Officer at Aéroports de Lyon.

All the administrators thanked Salvatore Alaimo, the founding chairman of Lyon Carex for his commitment during his two mandates as Chairman of the association (from September 2008 to February 2014).

Lyon Carex launched a consultation for conducting a study with the objective of determining the organisation and cost of handling for the Carex service at the Lyon-Saint Exupéry railport. The selected consultant will also draft the specifications of a wider consultation for the whole European network.

Lyon Carex entrusted RFF and SNCF’s Engineering Division with a study in addition to the LTI study conducted in 2009 in order to reduce the costs of railway connection. The study allowed consideration of a new project for a cost of €21 million (instead of €33 million in 2009).

The statutes of the Lyon Carex association have been modified and registered with the prefecture in order to ratify the decision by the EGM on 29 March 2013.

The CAREX project entered a new stage. The members of the EURO CAREX association organised a full-scale test with TGV no. 27274 which linked Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport, Paris Roissy CDG airport and London Saint Pancras station through the Channel Tunnel.
